So you want extra credit ?  OK... Lets make this simple....  Below are a list of astronomy related movies.  Pick one..go to the video store and take it out...watch it....then make an appointment to come and see me.  We will sit down, one on one and talk about the movie.  Based on how well you understood the movie, you will receive 1 - 5 points on your quarter average !   Seems like a pretty good deal to me.
THE RIGHT STUFFA movie about the early US Space Program, and the first astronauts.

2001: A Space OdysseyBased on the book, this is a science fiction classic.  Terrific special effects.

MISSION TO MARSA movie about visiting Mars in the near future, based on a controversial feature on the surface of Mars that was photographed by spacecraft.

MOON LANDING HOAX

After I teach you about the moon landing hoax theories...take a digital camera and prove them wrong

1. Take a picture in a totally dark room of someone.  Have a flashlight shining on their back.  Take a picture of their front showng that you can still see them, even though they are in a shadow

2. Go outside on a clear night... find a bright street light...take a picture of the night sky and the street light... You wont be able to see any stars in the picture

3. Go outside on a sunny day.. find two tall straight objects..like a flag pole..fence post.. etc..take a picture of the shadows and show they are not parallel...even with only one light source such as the sun


After I teach you about UFO's, see if you can fake some UFO pictures with a digital camera.

Go to the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Nassau County. Tour the museum, see an imax show.  Bring me the dated admission ticket and we'll sit down and talk about it.

Go to the Vanderbilt Planetarium in Centerport. Tour the exhbits, &  see a sky show.  Bring me the dated admission ticket and we'll sit down and talk about it.
